I CAN'T NOT MAKE GAMES.

I have enough lockerspace to hold an episode of Friends.

"We'll make a toast to absent friends and better days,
To remembering and being remembered as brave
And not as a bunch of whining jerks!

Don't lose your nerve.
Do not go straight
You must testify
(or I'm going to come to your house and punch you in the mouth)
cause CLOWNS MUST STAND."

Iron Gaia
As the only human awake on board a space station controlled by an insane AI with delusions of deification, you must unravel the mystery of your own identity and discover: "What is the Iron Gaia?"

Nov 1 2014 -- Testing Call

Having internalized the importance of "giving" enemies essences so they don't surge (generally speaking, this is kind of a strong disincentive for using buffing and healing precepts as, not targeting enemies, they don't 'push the clock back' on the next enemy surge) I still think that the attack power of the Praetor Familiars ("Faeries") is a bit excessive.

Take the example of the big boss fight after you "go through" the "door" to the "room" with Sesellia in it (because of the visual novel format, none of these things actually exist except inasmuch as you take the dialogue's word for them, but that's neither here nor there). After the first turn, Mow Down is unlikely to go off of because of Ban Phys. I have only unlocked two other multi-target offensive precepts at this point, and multi-target precepts are important because I want to keep all of the enemies 'stocked' with essences so they don't surge. And there are five enemies!

If I use "Purify" to give all of the enemies a "Fire" essence, then the boss lady can cast 'Warmth' which undoes a pretty substantial percentage of the damage that I've done so far. Maybe all of it.

If I use "Tempest" to give all of the enemies a "Air" essence, then both Praetor Familiars "pass" the Tempest back to me...dealing a shit-ton of damage. Each Praetor Familiar, even when not surging, hits both of my guys with Tempest for about 30 points which is a very substantial chunk of their HP at this point in the game (HP is only around 100). If both Praetor Familiars get Tempest off, that alone makes both of my guys 2/3rds dead.

And you don't necessarily go into the battle fresh. And shields aren't a solution because the Praetor Acolytes like to cast Purify and there are two Praetor Familiars who can blast off two rounds of Tempest.

Barring arcane, in-depth knowledge of the battle system it's hard to have unless you developed the game, the fight seems unwinnable on the surface, but I don't honestly have the patience to try it enough times to find out whether that's the case, so I'm not going to make the assertion that it *is* unwinnable very strongly.

I don't know if this is an issue with this specific battle--which may indeed have been fixed in a later build--or with the battle system in general.

Nov 1 2014 -- Testing Call

First time I've ever seen a dev direct traffic off their gamepage. Just saying.

East of Blog

For the record, I think it's a bit early for this, but it's blueperiod's call!

(My fault: he asked me what I thought about this 13 days ago, but I was too busy to respond until just now!)

One Hundred Blogs of Solitude

I have been wondering since around 2007 why that last bullet point isn't currently existing technology yet. : )

Let's talk about...Development HELL

Good use of Nightwish.

*goes back to actually read article*

Edit: Amazing read. I relate/empathize. A LOT.

I need saves

I have yet to get to the end of Chapter 4. : /

Testers

I would like to request...

* Zeb Vinita
* Hector Agliagliarlo (sp)
* Jesse Standaert
* Issa Screenivanser (sp, your avatar)
* Wesley Guthrie (that bastard with his confusing log)

or whoever else you gotta get rid of. That'll give me one psionicist, one executive type, and one military type, and one of only two genuinely attractive characters (of either gender) in the game (I really LIKE the lack of attractive people btw). I'll take a science type too, but I can't recall off the top of my head who one is.

I'll write them to 500-1000 words, unless you have a problem w/ that length.

Testers

To clarify my initial post, I will happily contribute to writing the bios, but you will have to deal with oddly penetrating questions about unimportant minutiae of the behind-the-scenes universe, as well as probably reject some of my wackier ideas from time to time.

Also meal packages are delicious, nom nom nom. It's like an inn you can carry with you. Do you get one package per ID chip, or one package per ID chip per canteen? I'm not sure how it actually works in the game. If it's the latter, they probably should effect only one character per meal (they would logically be single-serve meals anyway, non?). They are a bit too good to be THAT plentiful and full-heal everyone.

If it's only one per ID chip period, not one per ID chip per canteen, then I'm fine with them healing everyone. ID chips are fairly hard to come by.

(Tangent: Sabin growing boobies is deeply, deeply, deeply, deeply disturbing.)

Testers

Yes, also yes.

Although any incentive to collect ID Chips beyond hoarding huge numbers of DELICIOUS MEAL PACKAGES is superfluous. : )

Persistence

I greatly appreciate the offers to help, and I will consider them seriously. : )

I would need anyone helping to have played the game for many, many hours and to know it in and out at least as a PLAYER. I know that's asking a HECK of a lot, but I can't see it not being completely necessary. Still, though...
